Use Steam to Clean High Touch Areas

Sitting here on the balcony of my hotel in Florida soaking in the view of the ocean, I decided that this week we would talk about using steam to clean “high-touch” areas.

With social distancing in place, my wife and I were worried that we might not get to enjoy ourselves on a vacation, I was wrong. Every one of the hotel staff, and wait staff at the restaurants we’ve been to, have all been very cautious and mindful of making our stay, and many others wonderful.

I find myself questioning how much they’re actually cleaning all of the high touch areas such as elevator buttons, doorknobs, gates, counter tops, furniture, just to name a few. The point of today’s topic is to educate, make you aware, and honestly to make you question how much you cleaning all of high touch areas in your own home.

The CDC / EPA gives us a list of chemicals that meet the guidelines needed to fight COVID-19. These chemicals will work IF you follow the dwell time instructions. Dwell time is how long a chemical must sit on a surface to remove a germ or a virus. If you see someone spray and wipe then they haven’t sanitized the surface.

Using steam instead of chemicals to clean high touch area.

Steam is a proven killer against many pathogens and works faster than any chemical. With a dwell-time that is within 5 seconds, no chemical can compete. No one can make any claim that steam will kill COVID-19. However, we promise you that steam cleaning will help mitigate the spread.

Our goal is to educate you on a method of cleaning that is less harmful and more effective than most common practices today. With so much uncertainty of the future, the best thing we can do is provide ourselves with A Better Way to Clean!
